| 描述 | Semisynthetic thienamycin that has a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity against gram-negative and gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including many multiresistant strains. It is stable to beta-lactamases. Clinical studies have demonstrated high efficacy in the treatment of infections of various body systems. Its effectiveness is enhanced when it is administered in combination with CILASTATIN, a renal dipeptidase inhibitor. |

| In vitro(体外研究) | Imipenem, a β-lactam antibiotic, binds to penicillin binding protein 2 with the highest affinity and produces rounded cells. The binding of imipenem causes cells to lyse quickly and thereby to release less free endotoxin. |
| In vivo(体内研究) | Imipenem has a very short half-life. Imipenem has antimycobacterial activity both in a mouse model and in humans at high risk for failure of treatment for MDR (multiple-drug-resistant) tuberculosis. |
